静寂(しじま) という作品について作者の思い。

現在日本のアウトドアショップで溢れている安価なブッシュクラフトナイフではなく、10年も20年も愛用できる本物のナイフを鍛冶屋の私が30年以上培ってきた伝統的技術を生かして造ってみたかった。
そんな思いが原点です。

コンパクトなキャンプから本格的なサバイバルキャンプまでカバー出来るような和式ブッシュクラフトナイフをイメージしてデザインしました。
素材については、皮鉄がステンレス、芯（刃）には青紙鋼を挟んだ刃にしたのは、あえて錆びる鋼を使う事で道具を扱かう上での難しさや楽しさ等を使用者に感じてもらいたいからです。
錆びに強い素材で気楽に楽しむのもありだが、もっと踏み込んだ楽しみ方、めんどくさいまで楽しむ物をナイフでも再現できないかなという思いです。

ステンレスナイフでは及ばない鍛冶屋が鍛えた鋼（ハガネ）の切れ味をぜひ皆さんに少しでも味わって頂けたら嬉しいです。

樫柄もこのナイフに合わせて特別に柄職人に造ってもらいました。
洋ナイフにはない優しい握り心地もぜひご堪能ください。

Thoughts of the maker about this knife "Shijima".

I wanted to make a genuine knife that can be used for 10 or 20 years, not the cheap bushcraft knives that are currently flooding the outdoor stores in Japan, using the traditional techniques that I, as a blacksmith, have cultivated for over 30 years.
This is the origin of my idea.

The design is based on the image of a Japanese bushcraft knife that can be used from compact camping to full-scale survival camping.
The reason why I chose stainless steel for the skin and Aogami steel for the core (blade) is because I want the user to feel the difficulty and enjoyment of handling a tool by daring to use steel that rusts.
It is possible to enjoy knives with rust-resistant materials, but I wanted to recreate a more in-depth way of enjoying knives, something that can be enjoyed to the point of being a hassle.

We would be happy if you could enjoy the sharpness of steel (hagane) forged by a blacksmith, which stainless steel knives cannot match.

The oak handle was specially made for this knife by a handle maker.
We hope you will enjoy the gentle grip that is not found in Western knives.
